- Marketing?
The actors don't know the ending themselves so they can't spoil it. The ending has been shot already twice which is a great filming strategy.
The trailer was posted on the Ellen Show YouTube channel.
Target audience would be different it is similar but not identical to the two previous BJD. Its a rom com which means it targets female audience however, it does try strongly appear to men as well. The title is already telling a lot about the movie which is a point why a men audience would like to watch this movie since it is about a baby as well as the characters are old which does not quite appeal to the male audience.
Patrick Dempsey is an appealing actor, which may attract women but playing this character in BJDB movie makes him a bit less appealing.
There is a Male Gaze because Renee Zellweger is not as attractive and having a child.
The reason why most people would like to watch this movie because of the franchise of the previous two movies. People mostly watch it because if the comedy side of the film rather than the romance.
There is an intertextuality towards the first BJD. She is wearing the same cloth, the same dietetic/non-diegetic music.
The rating would be 15 in UK because of the swearing in the trailer. The swearing was used before in the other movies however not in the trailer.
There is an establishing shot in the trailer. In movies related to England usually filmed in London as it is counted as the posh location.
They had a shot of Ed Sheeran who attracted some of the younger female audience.
Glastonbury festival was shot of an array shot the iconic shot of it is muddy and dirty.
Another intertextuality for the cinderella, as the man puts on the her shoe.
"UP The DUFF" sign was made to show that she is pregnant. This is a pretty much English type of sign.
They have used the same font and colouring which is a franchise of the previous movies.
- Release Strategy?
Its going to be released on the same day 16 September 2016 in UK and US which is quite unusual. UK would be the biggest target for the movie such as "Love Actually"
UK and US is first and then Europe etc.
The biggest market is america. They create posters and they will be shipped around.
Avatar made a wide world release and that was a bit risk as the same time the hit of that year.
This is the sign which was used on the US trailer presented by Ellen Show
This sign was used in the UK trailer which was used in Working Title website.
Those two signs were used to appeal to the both countries.
